Wayne Hathaway
Senior Pastor

I became a Christian at age 13 at a youth camp near Yakima, Washington. It was a Wednesday night and I can remember feeling so absolutely lost and knew I needed Jesus in my heart. I had been attending church for about a year and felt embarrassed to go forward for fear of what the other kids in my youth group would think of me. But that night I was so desperate that I went forward. Jesus wonderfully came into my heart, saved me and baptized me with the Holy Spirit.
Not long after that I knew God was calling me into the ministry and from about the 8th grade on I began to make preparations to go to the Denominational Bible School of the church I attended. I went to Bible School after completing high school and served as Youth and Music Pastor in several different churches. I also Pastored several churches within that denomination. Since becoming a part of the Calvary Chapel movement in 1991 I have discovered that I had been a Calvary Chapel guy all my life and just didn't know it. We came to Billings in 1994 and began Calvary Chapel Billings in January of 1995.
I am so thankful to the Lord to be able to be a part of building the Kingdom of God. There are two verses that have been life-long verses for me. IIThessalonians 3:3. "But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one." Also, Jeremiah 29:11 - "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. " My wife Jeanie and I are blessed to be here at Calvary Billings and look forward to seeing God move in this city.

Growing up, I was in one of those families who were in church every time the doors were open. Sound like a pastor's kid? I am. For me this means many wonderful and positive things: I came to know and love the Lord at a very young age, music was to me a beautiful gift from God, and it prepared me to do what I love to do best - lead Worship.
I remember the moment Jesus Christ to come into my life. I was 5 years old. My heart was pounding when the speaker talked about what it meant to be saved. He said that if you hadn’t asked Jesus to come into your heart, to forgive you of your sins and be Lord of your life – you weren’t going to go to heaven. That night my life changed. I remember praying with my dad to ask Jesus into my heart. When I stood up, I had a feeling like I was walking on air back to my seat. From that time on, I didn't just go to church with my family, I went to Worship.
My childhood upbringing was filled with music. My parents sang and played instruments so it seemed we were always playing or singing somewhere. I wrote my first song in the fourth grade. Something happened to me that day … I began to understand what it meant to Worship God with my whole heart. Throughout my life, some of the most powerful experiences with the Lord have come when I was sitting down playing the piano and singing to Jesus. I think that is the most amazing thing about Worship. Yes, it is something God has asked us to do – but the amazing part is that when we obey and Worship Him, so many times we are blessed.
My husband Jim and I with our three children Alec, Cassie and Noah have had the unique opportunity to be here in Billings and to attend Calvary Chapel Billings, where my Dad, Wayne Hathaway is the pastor. Pastor Wayne (dad) asked me to take on the position as Worship Leader in August of 1999. I have had the thrill of seeing God move in our fellowship and our Worship team. It is an honor to be here as a part of this fellowship, and to be "working" with a man I love, respect, trust and admire…my dad. GOD IS GOOD! We are truly thankful as we look forward to what God has planned for Billings, Montana.
