Becoming a Christian

Realize you are a Sinner. Face it. We have all blown it. The mark is perfection and we have all failed. We need a Savior.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God Romans 3:23 (NKJV) For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23 (NKJV)

Recognize God has provided a solution for our failure, our sin. He sent His Son to die on the cross for us, for you.
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 (NKJV)
Repent of your sins. “Repent” means to turn away from or change direction. We need to be sorry enough for our sins to turn away from the things that do not please God and turn toward the things that do.

Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord Acts 3:19 (NKJV)

Receive Jesus as your personal Lord and savior. Just like you do not clean up to take a shower do not try to clean yourself up before you decide to come to Him. He receives us just as we are, then begins to change us as we submit to Him in obedience. He gives us a fresh start when we yield our lives to Him.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 (NKJV) that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9–10 (NKJV)

Remain in Him. Becoming a Christian is not a an event. It is a continually growing changed life. Also the best decision you will ever make.

Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. John 15:4–5(NKJV)

Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked. 1 John 2:3–6 (NKJV)
